The Tidal Country
East of the holiday coast, the land begins to loosen. Salt gathers in shallow fields; the river slips through town and out toward the sea. There are market mornings, stacked chairs waiting for nightfall, cats in abandoned courtyards, and oranges still hanging in the old groves.
This is the country around Tavira—part town, part marsh, part memory.
Nothing is fully restored.
That is part of the appeal. A blue gate, a ruined courtyard, a cat at the edge of a broken room—small reminders that a place can be loved without being smoothed over.
At Low Water
By evening, the river narrows and the town shifts its weight toward the bridges. Someone bends into the gold reflection; the day slips quietly toward the sea.
